That’s right. On this day, way back in 1982; a whole 27 years ago, Prince released his album 1999. It was big in my life.

Happy Birthday to the Red Rocker! He’s 62 today! I saw him a few years back when he was touring with David Lee Roth. Quite a show.
I just got this fabulous Van Halen raglan reconstructed concert jersey. Totally unique. One of a kind!

A funny little happening at Sol Baby just now…I had a customer who was in for quite a while with his cute little boy. He asks to see the little guitar I have and starts playing it. As i rambled on about why i chose that brand and whatnot, I noticed he was playing quite well. So I asked, “Are you in a band or do you just play really well?” He says, “yes, i’m in a band.” I say “so, what’s the name of it?” He says “Stone Temple Pilots” (in a such a manner like I may not have heard of this band before). I say…well, I don’t quite remember what I said after that cuz I was a little flummoxed! I LOVE this band! And here was the bass player Rob DeLeo in MY store!

Rob DeLeo of Stone Temple Pilots
From rocking out to Dead and Bloated with my friend Joanne (circa ’92-93) to the amazing Tiny Music CD (which he wrote incidentally), I’ve been a fan from the beginning. Needless to say, Rob is an awesome guy. We continued to talk for another ½ hour about all sorts of stuff. A pretty cool experience for me!
He loved the shop too!

“I learned a long time ago that one note can go a long way if it’s the right one,”
-Les Paul

Les Paul died today. He was 94. Being influenced by music, rock n roll and guitars, I think it’s only right that Sol Baby throws Les a shout out. Thanks for your pioneering work that gave my favorite guitarists life!
“…Paul was a guitar and electronics mastermind whose creations — such as multitrack recording, tape delay and the solid-body guitar that bears his name, the Gibson Les Paul — helped give rise to modern popular music, including rock ‘n’ roll…”
Rest in Peace.

I touched the back of a soloing and shirtless Angus Young riding around Milwaukee Arena (pre-Bradley Center) on Brian Johnson’s shoulders. Beat that!

Another tribute to Live Aid: Paul McCartney, was awesome too. Although I remember there being audio problems with his singing of “Let it Be.” Still, a great performance.

Sol Baby: Junk Food Beatles Let It Be Toddler Girls Tee.
Classic Let It Be album cover is all Warhol-esque in this cool, psychedelic Junk Food Tee. Unique light navy color (perfect for hiding dirt) with images of the fab four in funky, neon colors.
Super soft 100% combed cotton. A great fitting tee that’s a slightly longer cut.
Made in the USA.
